Opportunity in Desperation
Heard the other morning, via NPR, a story about venture prospecting in the heart of Iraq’s capital. The gent, nearly breathlessly, described Baghdad as one of the last “greenfield opportunities,” which is marketing speak for “The DoD gave us money to build theme parks in an attempt to prove just how cold and heartless the infidels really are, and, fuck if I haven’t ever had an erection like this just thinking about all the market share we’ll have. . .once we create the market.”
At this point, I’m tempted to say something like “261 days,” but that countdown, while entertaining, is beside the point.
